Hey everyone! As the title suggests, this is the thread for all potential Cardiff University Medical School applicants. These are roughly the requirements for applying although they are subjected to change on a year to year basis. GCSE requirement: They employ a point system e.g. where an A* is awarded 4 points, A is awarded 3 points etc. Required points vary year by year. A level requirement: At least AAA, conditional offers will be of that grade as well. UKCAT: Only used when there are 2 applicants that are identical in points after PS, results and interview performance have been graded. Competition ratio: In the 2014 intake round the University received approximately 2,900 applications for 309 places; of these, approximately 1,000 were invited to interview. In terms of international students, you can expect about 15-18 enrolling each year. Interview format: It consists of a panel of 3 interviewers asking questions relating to PS, a little on general knowledge and the usual generic questions like why medicine? Teaching style: Cardiff medical school has gone from a traditional programme to CBL in recent years. CBL is essentially a form of PBL with minor tweaks. IELTS score: Needs to be on average 7.5 or higher. If there's anything anyone wants to know or needs to discuss, this is the right place for those discussions to take place. Feel free to make use of this space and good luck!
