Hi to all students who are interested in applying to do medicine in Nottingham.
Provided below are some information regarding entry requirements for Nottingham, hope they'll be able to answer all your queries and if you are interested to find out more about our school, do visit the official Nottingham Medicine website. If you have any questions feel free to post in this forum too and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Cheers!
Entry requirements:
When applying for medicine, please make sure you meet our academic requirements. (See our list of accepted qualifications.)
We consider applicants’ circumstances and broader achievements as part of the assessment process, but do not vary the offer from the grades advertised as a result of these.
No offers are made without interview.
GCSE’s or equivalent subjects - Applicants must have achieved at least 6 GCSE’s at grade A or higher to include:
Biology, Chemistry and Physics (or the science double award, sometimes known as core science and advanced science).
Maths and English language can be passed at grade B or higher.
If you didn’t achieve an A grade in Physics at GCSE, you can compensate this by taking the subject to AS and achieving an A grade. This only applies to Physics.
If you have taken IGCSE’s we require the same grades and subjects as for GCSE’s. Only first sit results are considered.
GCSEs and IGCSE's must be studied over a two year period.
If your home country is outside the UK then we will compare your qualifications against our International Office database. Email ugmedadmissions@nottingham.ac.uk for clarification.
AS levels – although we don’t ask for particular grades at AS level, we are expecting you to achieve at least a B in each of the subjects you are taking to full A-level.
A-levels – predictions or achieved A-levels of AAA to include Biology, Chemistry and a third subject. The only exclusions for the third subject are General Studies and Critical Thinking. We do not have a preference for the third subject. A-levels must be studied over a maximum of two years.
Extended Projects are not taken into consideration as many students do not have the opportunity to complete this qualification. However, the skills learned while completing this project are valuable for degree level study.
UKCAT - this test is required and must be sat in the year you make your application for medicine. More informatin can be found on the following website www.ukcat.ac.uk.
A level offer: AAA
Required subjects: A in chemistry and biology at A level; third A level at grade A in any subject except general studies and critical thinking; at least six GCSEs at grade A including chemistry, physics and biology or double science; GCSE grade B in English and maths.
